"Band discolored immediately- band broke long before watch died" 2009-08-22
By M. Ison
The functionality of this watch is great, but the band is terrible and it doesn't seem that it's possible to buy a replacement band.

Within weeks of buying this watch, the band started picking up discolorations which couldn't be cleaned off. A shame, but not a deal breaker.

The deal breaker, and the reason I only rated it three stars, is that the band started separating from the watch face and then the piece holding the strap together broke after only a year. I've had several other Timex Ironman watches in the past that had replaceable watch bands, so although the plastic band always broke before the watch died, it wasn't a big deal. There don't seem to be replacement bands for this watch, making it all but useless even though it's still running.

 "Nice looking watch" 2009-08-20

This is a great product. Bought it for my wife who is training for a half-marathon. She loves it. It is light and has multiple functions that help her with her training. Good value in all.

"Watch popped out of the band" 2009-07-02
By BuddhaFrog (TX United States)
I purchased this watch at Wal-Mart, and after a month or two the strap separated from the watch on the side of the buckle. It pulled away from the watch where the two upper buttons are located. The watch could be hooked back into the strap; but the strap remained loose and the upper part of the watch separated from it frequently. This continued for another month or so until today, when the watch popped completely out of the strap and was lost somewhere. This is a terrible design and I would never purchase another one.

 "iffy water resistance" 2009-05-31
By Laura (Okinawa, Japan)
This is my second go-around with this particular model, and I'm hoping the second time is a charm. I had worn exclusively Timex Triathlons for over a decade when I purchased first purchased this model 3 years ago. I returned it twice because it's face fogged up each time after one to two swims in the pool (at the surface). It then lasted 2 years before it just got too beat up. I switched to an UnderArmor model when it was time to replace the Triathlon--the UnderArmor strap broke down in less than a year, so I went back to the Triathlon. I got this model again because it was relatively cheap and I'm familiar with it. So far, I've had it in the pool quite a bit, including scuba classes (up to 10 feet--NOT pushing the buttons at that depth), and it's holding up well. However, when a friend noticed me wearing it, she commented that she had had the same model, and it had gotten water behind the crystal after just showering in it. I never had this problem with previous Triathlon models.

 "watch drowns in water" 2009-05-30
By Louise
I really liked this watch when I first got it about a year and a half ago, until the first time I took it swimming. It got condensation under the face, and I worried this was the beginning of the end for my watch. It continued to get that condensation under the face everytime I went into the water. Yesterday I went for a casual swim, and there was the condensation under the face again. About an hour later the watch totally died. Not much for an Ironman watch- doesn't that event include a swim? My casio that I had as a kid was tougher than this watch. Bummer, since I liked the count-down feature for alternating running sets, but I love being on the water so waterproofing, especially when it is listed as such, is important. Save your money- the life of this watch was only a year and a half.
