 "CHEAP AND CHEAP LOOKING" 2009-08-24
By G. P. (Los Angeles, CA USA)
I guess I shouldn't have expected much for the price, but this watch disappointed me so much that I returned it. My main problem was all the plastic dividers running through the bezel which is distracting and makes it difficult to view the numbers and other information (especially at an angle). Why not do away with all the plastic and make the numbers and letters larger? The band is also very thin and cheap looking and is probably going to break well before the battery runs out. At that point, you will be throwing the watch away since the cost and hassle of buying a new band is probably not worth it. In sum, a very "plasticky" and cheap looking watch. In my opinion, it is probably better to spend a few extra dollars and get a better watch with a better quality band.

"Great, inexpensive watch - NOT Solar Powered" 2009-07-27
By Mark Thacker
I purchased this watch after reading several reviews here, directly at a local Target store for $24.88.

It included small, but very usable instructions and set up of the watch was actually quite easy.

Just a note that the watch is NOT solar powered - a fact quickly discovered by exploring the Casio Web site.

Overall, this watch does what I want and includes a count down timer, a stop watch, a single daily alarm, world time display, great backlight, and ability to sync with the Atomic clock nightly. It is also not a huge watch and is very light weight, which is a good thing in my opinion. It's resin strap is actually quite comfortable and has plenty of adjustment holes which ventilate it so you don't get a clammy wrist.

About the world time and atomic clock sync : this doesn't allow you to have the watch automatically detect that you have switched time zones (unlike your phone, which does this when you roam into an area when it gets it's time from the provider's network).

When I travel, I can change the 'home city' to one in the correct time zone (there are 48 to choose from) and the watch will automatically correct the time.

One press of a button reveals a world time screen. Only one city is listed, but it's your choice (from 48) as to which city is displayed, complete with that city's offset from UTC (Universal Time Coordinated).

At night, the watch attempts to collect the time from the atomic clock located in Colorado. This has worked well once I started placing the watch at a window in my bathroom. You can check to see when the watch last sync'ed and can manually force a sync attempt. The watch displays an indicator for signal strength and that indicator stays on the screen once the sync has occurred.

Overall, it's a great watch for the price.

 "watch review" 2009-07-08
By Donald D. Perry (doghouse)
Watch works great. I do like the self adjusting feature. All of my old watches - all casio, btw - would always gain a minute or two right after I set them and were never right. Of course I tried the trick of setting it a couple minutes behind so it would end up right, but - go figure - then it gained more and still ended up wrong. Now I always have the right time without having to look at my telephone.

My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to know when DST is. When I got it in early June, I had to set it one time zone east of here to get it to show the right time. I wasn't sure why that was until on June 21 it suddenly went forward an hour. When I figured out that the way to correct it was to set it to my correct time zone it dawned on me that the crazy thing thinks that daylight savings time begins on the first day of summer! Silly watch. If it doesn't know that DST begins in spring and ends in fall then how does it remember whether time "springs forward" or "falls back"????

Oh well, I like the watch. It's great.

"Very nice watch. Very useful." 2009-07-03
By Randy L. Hunt (St. George, UT USA)
I've had this watch for over a year now, and I am very happy with the quality.

I bought it mostly because it had a timer (why don't more things have timers in them? Cellphones, for instance?). I'm always using that.

Atomic clock always updates for me every night. One caveat, just laying it out at night doesn't seem to help it get much signal (I even put it in the window my first night); now I always wear it to bed at night (I'm weird that way), and I think my body makes for a better antenna.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 is that the face is not very scratch resistant. I work in computers (not exactly a physically demanding job), and it's gotten kinda scratched up. Not too bad, but just enough to be irritating.

As for size, this is probably more of a guy watch. It's about as big around as the bottom of a dixie cup, or slightly bigger than a silver dollar (1 & 3/4 inches or 4.5 cm in diameter -- not the face, but the whole watch part).

I love this watch, definitely worth the money.
