"Minimal quality but acceptable tools" 2009-08-22
By C. Wilson (Austin, TX)
The case and foam case liner are of a very low quality. The tools are a little better.

The internal foam liner did not have the correct cut-outs to allow the tools to fit snugly. Some of the tools were in pieces and had to be reassembled. I've used a few of the tools and they didn't break, however they both look & feel a little cheap.

If I could do it over, I'd buy the kit without the case and save a few bucks or I'd buy better quality tools separately rather than in kit form.

 "Budget Value" 2009-08-16
By Masao Miwa (Los Angeles, CA USA)
Good value for the price. May not be Swiss quality, but not paying Swiss price. Does what I need it for and with the strap pin kit costing about the same as the whole kit, it's a good bargain. Like others have said take your time, look at direction pin needs to be removed and you should have no problems. There also are some pin removal push pins that you can use with the band holder to remove if the pin removal took doesn't work with the band you have. Re case, I had some cheap hole cutters so I used them to cut out a small circle in the middle of each slot so I could more easily remove the tool. Also for smaller items where my fingers can't get at, I just use a small screw driver to pull out. Excellent starter kit for those of us amateurs who don't use this to make a living.

 "Excellent Watch Tool Kit" 2009-08-01
By Jasper Collins (Boston, MA)
I needed a watch took kit to remove a few links on my new Timex watch so I searched Amazon for about 20 minutes. There are two categories of tools that can be bought: individual parts or a kit. For the money, the kits are a better deal than buying the individual piece parts. Better bang for your buck. This 19 piece kit arrived the next day after ordering. The tools are very good quality and there seems to be a tool for every type of watch maintenance needed. This kit also includes additional pins in case you lose one. There are no instructions included and so that is why I rated it 4 stars instead of 5. However, the tools are very intuitive to use and so I didn't miss the instructions too much. I highly recommend this kit to anyone that plans to remove links or change batteries themselves. The entire process is easy and the kit is inexpensive. It took me about 10 minutes to remove three links from my watch! Now I don't have to make a trip to the jeweler ever again!!

"This is the one to get" 2009-07-21
By Douglas C. Crawford (Pottstown, PA)
I looked over all the options in the under $25 investment...

It is the most complete. I insisted on a box to keep everything neat

and orderly. Everything fits very tight in the foam, so some items are

tough to get in and out of their crevices. In time they will probably

cooperate better. Yes there are no instructures included; but there is

a beautiful card included in full color which tells where to get online

instructions. If you are a hobbyist I can's see how there is a better deal, especially if you take advantage of the supersaver shipping available

for this. PS: You really need most all of this stuff to do ANY useful work

on a watch band- hammer, pin press, jewelers screwdriver, case lifter knife... You'll be stuck if you don't have all the tools at hand.

I gave it 5 stars because for the money I think the quality is worth it.

Is it craftsman quality? No but it should last for its intended purpose.

 "Not worth it." 2009-07-16
By S. A. Gould (Chicago, IL USA)
Starting with the ONLY PRO: plastic case was well-made and nice looking.

Other than that, the tools were so poorly aligned in their cut out foam compartments, it was impossible to every close it again. So I threw away the foam. Tried taking the screws off of the back of (one) of my expired battery watches. Got one screw out. And the tip of the screwdriver was bent. From one screw. (And I am not an Amazon and can use a screwdriver correctly.) Mini screwdrivers looked good quality, had the right heft, the blades were simply cheaply made.

From reading the two reviews, I already knew kit did not come with documentation, but I went to the site on the card that came with it. Very poorly done, some with just text explanations and NO photos or drawings. Still don't know what MOST of the tools actually do. The only clues I got were from doing a Google Image search, going to several sites, and getting some idea of what they did.

THE ONLY REASON I didn't return this is because my time is worth more than the trip to the post office; the case was functional; and it is my hope that SOME of the items- that have NO WORKING parts- may prove functional. Otherwise, VERY DISAPPOINTING.
