I was in the market for a sporty, sturdy watch to wear when I'm engaged in more physical or casual endeavors. The black "commando" wristwatches look pretty cool, and I was willing to spend $500+. As I began my reach this watch became one of the top contenders. What sealed the deal for me was the ease by which one can change the format, the generous size of the type and the perfect degree of illumination that the watch features when needed.



The whole precision time setting feature kind of lost on me at first, but now I both enjoy and am terrifically impressed. As I compared different watchmakers and models, it became increasingly clear to me that the Casio GW9100 offered the most bang for the buck. To date, it continues to be the best non luxury watch that I have ever owned.

I'll add my voice to the chorus of positive reviews for this watch.



Its feature set is limited pretty much to standard timekeeping functions: time, date, alarm, countdown timer, stopwatch, and world time. That's just fine with me. I don't need to keep names and addresses in my watch, nor do I want to monitor my heartbeat, control my TV, or find my way out of the forest with it. The fact that it's solar powered and automatically synchs with the atomic clock are nice bonuses. I was pleased to see when I took the watch out of the box that it was already perfectly synched to the official U.S. atomic clock. Very cool.



For me, the number one selling point of this watch is its visual appeal. This is one tough looking timepiece. The diameter of the face is surprisingly small, but not too small, which gives it a very stout appearance. The titanium case accents the black plastic elements beautifully (and matches my recently acquired titanium spork perfectly). The display is relatively uncluttered and the digits are large and easy to read.



If you're looking for something with a little more muscle than the G-Shock Classic, you absolutely will not regret picking up a Gulfman. Highly recommended.

If you're looking for a very rugged, practical (vs. style), no-maintenance watch, this should be a strong consideration. Solar powered, automatic atomic time setting, rugged, water proof. I've had it for a few months including travel. Initially took a couple of days to figure out the atomic time keeping, but once done there are no more worries about recalibration or replacing any battery.

This Casio watch is simply excellent...I love it! It may be great to have a nice dress watch for special occasions. However, it's also nice to have all the functions that come with this one for everyday use...I use them all the time. I wish I had bought this when it was first introduced. The night viewing feature is super along with the automatic timekeeping. I couldn't be happier!

My son was given this watch for his 6th birthday. The soft, stretchy band seems like a great idea for a young child. The problem is that it continuously slips out of the clasp and falls off. The watch itself stopped working (just after warranty)and was not able to be fixed at a cost that was less than just buying another watch. In hind-sight I would have gone with a more expensive, sturdier watch. This one has been a disappointment for our 1st time watch owner.

I am very pleased with this watch. Ive been wearing it for one month and its only lost 3 seconds which is damn good for a realtively cheap watch. the titanium is very strong and the clasp is a very solid design. the clasp peace has had a few scratches on it but thats to be expected considering im really rough on watches. one good charge is nessasary right out of the box cause it does ship completely dead and make sure you do an all zero reset before you set the time and date. only thing i really dont like is the dual time zone feature takes a long time to catch up. im in the middle east now but home is 9 hours behind so if i switch to the l-tm setting it takes 9 revolutions to get to the right time. the easy way to do it would have been to just have the hour hand move. instead the minute hand has to spend around and around and around. either way its not to big a deal unless you cant do the math in your head

I like things user friendly. Here is the review

Good

- Nice looking

- Heavy duty clasp. I would have kept my last watch but clasp was flimsy and broke (9 year old watch)



Bad

- To heavy. Last titanium I ownded was a lot lighter

- Only the band is titanium

- I could not figure out how to change back the date. I missplaced the CD and the instructions do not say much

- After three weeks the thing just died.

Many people already wrote nice reviews and included a lot of information. I will only add few words.

I am really very dissapointed with this 'Titanium' watch.

The biggest issue is that it's not at all 'ALL TITANIUM'.

Back of the case is made of steel. Beware.

So if you look for some anti-allergic or real 'All Titanium' watch, don't go for this item.

Unfortunately I only found this out when I looked at the back of the watch.

The other thing that is annoying and you would not expect this from the watch with the list price $450 is that Seconds hand does not align with the markers at all.

Also, althought smaller, this watch seems to be heavier then Skyhawk.

I did a lot of search for a watch from all brands priced between $200 - $400. This one seems to be a fit (I bought for $315).



After purchase, I like this watch for:

1. Looks cool

2. Accurate so far. 15 seconds fast than time from time.gov after three months. To my understanding, this is not so bad.

3. Energy save. I used to have a Seiko Kinetic, but need to swing for charging at beginning. I'm not so old but 400 times swing does need some energy.



Problem:

1. modes is so easy to change by accident (bad designed bezel), happens twice a week. This is annoying.

2. Feel a little thick at first, but then used with it. It depends on your taste, you may need to consider other watches if you care about thickness.



Overall, it's a good one for me so far (3 months after purchase) and I want to recommend.

This is my third G-Shock since I started SCUBA diving in 1986. The first two lasted over 20 years, which is not bad for such an economical watch. The band on the first one gave out before the watch. This model is very easy to read, is comfortable and attractive. It seems as sturdy as my other two. The digital window is somewhat blocked by the minute hand when it is between the 4 and 8, but I normally use the hands anyway. The hour hand is shorter and is not as much of a problem. It has all the basic watch features you need. I don't think you can go wrong with any G-Shock.

I have owned this watch since early 2002 and was still on the orignal battery, and just the second set of bands. It finally gave up the ghost a couple days ago, due to the casing around the watch itself finally wearing out and ripping completely off. To put it mildly I was extremely tough on this watch and it never let me down. There are a few drawbacks, almost all involving the small lcd display which you'll read in many of the comments. That being said you'll be hard pressed to find a more durable, long lasting watch. I highly recommend it.

 "Great watch with one minor flaw" 2009-09-22

For years and years I have only worn the cheaper plastic watches. In the course of the life of one of these watches I would go through two or three batteries and two or three bands. When my last one broke because the plastic frame wouldn't hold in the band pin I decided it was time to look for a nicer every day watch. I came across this one and I'm glad I got it. The band is nice and doesn't snag my long arm hair like other watch bands. I'm a bit of a geek so I like the tech features of this watch which include solar power, atomic clock set, and a few other nifty features. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is due to how easily the crystal can be scratched due to the design of it. The surface of the crystal is slightly above the rim of the watch making it a great target when the watch hits a surface. To combat the scratches I did like others have done here and got the 32mm film from Zagg. It came in about a week after I got the watch and so far it has been great. The surface of the crystal looks as good today as when I got it about 4 weeks ago. All in all, a great watch.

The setup instructions are very poorly written. It is difficult to read the manual that came with the watch and fully understand how to set the watch to the proper time zone and all of the other settings for alarm, etc that need to be made.

I called the technical support number in the manual and could not understand the person on the line who was suppose to help me.

I am a middle age man who works with computers every day but this was more than I wanted to handle so I returned the watch.

Excellent accurate and no need to worry about the battery especially in California. The Dial color is deeper blue than the picture showing which is better than I expected.

The band-link removing do has some difficulty like some other reviewers mentioned but not too bad, and it's just a one time job.

I do worry about the plastic casing part as the previous reviewer William said. However, I'm not too activated, so far so good.

I bought this watch to replace a previous Casio watch that I owned, and failed after MANY years of good service. I could have sent it in for repair, but with this PRICE and FREE SHIPPING it was worthwhile to buy this great watch and have the latest feature of SOLAR CHARGING. I like the SELF-SETTING feature, and will never have another watch without it.



It looks very nice, and I never take it off except to bathe. I mention this because they say that you should take it off and let it re-charge the battery. My battery is always showing "HI" every time I check.



I did have a little problem understanding the instructions setting it, but using the imformation on the WEB, and not the book supplied, I got it all set up. It has many more features that I will never use such as, stop watch, and alarms.

I have shown it to many of my friends, and they liked it also. Just a GREAT DEAL!!!!

I just bought this watch and had it shipped to London ON, Canada from Chelsea Watch (Amazon.com will not ship it to Canada and I could not find it in a stores in Canada). The watch is great, I read the manual when I got it and then had it all setup in about 30 minutes. Setting the watch is not hard once you read the manual. It has been receiving the atomic time signal every night with no problems. Great functional watch, looks nice. I took it to Sears watch repair to get the band resized, they charged $7.00 to do it.
